Cottonese BT NC

Cottonese BT NC
Neutral Cellulase liquid for fabric and garment bio-finishing
DESCRIPTION
Cottonese BT NC is a ready-to-use concentration of a neutral cellulase liquid enzyme product
for textile biofi nishing in mills and laundries.
This unique neutral cellulase sets a new standard for surface defi brillation quality
and overall customer value: It gives superior fabric and garment cleanup under
neutral pH conditions in all types of processing equipment.
Raas Biotech uses state-of-the-art biotechnology methods. Cottonese BT NC is unique and
contains a neutral cellulase enzyme produced by a genetically modified organism. The
enzyme is produced by a natural fermentation process and is biodegradable.
BENEFITS FOR THE TEXTILE MILL
Cottonese BT NC provides these processing and fabric quality benefits:
Process Simplicity
• No pH adjustment. Cottonese BT NC works optimally over the entire range of potential
incoming process water pH's. Typically, no time is necessary for adding pH adjustment
chemicals.
• Combined fi nishing and dyeing. The ability of this enzyme to perform fabric cleanup
under neutral pH allows the possibility to combine bio-finishing and dyeing in a single bath.
This reduces processing time and enables increased production throughput.
High Quality Fabric
• Preserved fabric strength and weight.
Enzymatic finishing provides surface cleanup without aggressive change to the underlying
fabric fibers. This provides higher fabric strength and weight retention when compared to
traditional cellulase processing.
• Increased dye uptake.
Bio-polishing with Cottonese BT NC results in exceptionally clean fabric surfaces, either
reducing the use of dye to achieve desired color, or the same amount of dye to increase
dye color intensity.
BENEFITS FOR THE TEXTILE LAUNDRY
Cottonese BT NC provides these processing and garment quality benefits:
Process Simplicity
• Reduced water heating time. Cottonese BT NC works in temperatures as low as 40oC.
Incoming process water needs minimal heating to bring the bath into operating
temperatures, reducing time (enabling increased production) and saving energy.

Technical Data Sheet
Cottonese BTNC
High Quality Garments
• Consistent garment quality. Cottonese BT NC gives reproducible garment look and feel
even under moderate variations in processing pH, temperature, and time. This product
can provide the process robustness required to minimize time consuming and costly
garment rework.
• High color retention. Finishing garments with Cottonese BT NC results in higher color
retention when compared to traditional cellulase processing.
• Increased color brilliance. Bio-polishing with Cottonese BT NC results in exceptionally
clean fabric surfaces. The reduction in surface `fuzz' increases the visual brilliance of
dyed fabrics.
PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS
(*)The activity of the enzyme is expressed in Finishing Neutral Cellulase Units (FNCU)
against an internal standard to ensure lot-to-lot consistency. The enzyme activity value is
not a measure for bio-finishing performance. A detailed assay method is available upon
request.
DOSAGE RECOMMENDATIONS
It is recommended that the optimal dosage of product be defined under the conditions of
use to obtain the desired effect. This is best defined by first experimenting with a small
amount of fabric or garments. The dosage will vary according to fabric/garment type and
weight, treatment time, pH, temperature, liquor ratio, auxiliary chemicals and type of
equipment/mechanical action. The dosage recommendations below are starting
guidelines for Cottonese BT NC enzyme as such and should be adjusted if the product has
been further diluted.
ENZYME INACTIVATION
If necessary, Cottonese BT NC enzyme can be inactivated by increasing the pH of the biofinishing
bath to a pH > 9.0 and holding for 5 minutes. Soda ash (sodium carbonate), borax
(sodium borate) or an alkaline detergent are recommended for pH adjustment.
PACKAGING & STORAGE
Cottonese BT NC enzyme is available in 28 kg pails, 225 kg drums and 1125 kg totes.
Cottonese BT NC enzyme can be stored at room temperature (up to 25°C) in a sealed
container. Reformulated products should also be packaged in sealed containers. Storage
and Stability information is available upon request.
